Battle and blast your way across a chain of islands and into the ruins of a demonic civilization in this post-apocalyptic action platformer, learning the secrets of the past and deciding the future of what remains. Archipelago of the Apocalypse was designed for Arizona State University's CPI 111.

Danger Around Every Corner

Archipelago of the Apocalypse is an action platformer all about discovering new areas, and enemies and finding new items. Jotoine battles their way through a deadly island finding journal entries left behind by previous explorers. Along the way, Jotoine discovers different environments such as the cliffs, swamps, ash mountains, and underground caverns.  Movement is controlled with the 'WASD' keys and jumping is done with 'Space'. Weapon options are divided into melee and ranged options where 'E' activates a ranged attack and 'X' activates a melee attack.

Secrets Waiting To Be Discovered

There are many unique weapons to uncover such as the ice grenade and electric hammer which provide several different ways to tackle combat. Furthermore Jotoine's platforming arsenal increases with engaging ways to traverse such as with sliding and air dashing.

Post Mortem

Reflecting on the process of developing Archipelago of the Apocalypse, admittedly a lot of things went right. We were very lucky to be able to put together a team of people who shared a similar vision and level of passion for the project and had skills that greatly complemented one another. Our organization and communication skills ended up being effective and were crucial to development. Largely the issues we ran into involved planning and scale creep. There were lots of features that were cut for time and we were left late in development trying to fix up things we didn't have enough time to properly implement.
